The development of the park is an ongoing community project. Contributions from businesses, organizations and individuals will make it happen. Thanks to the following for your contributions and continued support.
CNX Gas Corporation donated $4,000.00 to the Salem Township Recreation Board for park development. The money will help pay for stone on a walking trail in the park which will also serve as our 5K race course in 2009. The check was presented to the Board on November 7, 2008 by Joe Snyder, Supervising Manager of Project Nittany.

Seanor Farm Park Initiative Committee members on hand for the presentation are from left (back row) Perry Miller, Jon Cochran, Wilma Osterwise, Tim D’Aurora, and Tom Maher. Seated are Township Supervisor Ron Martz and Supervising Manager Joe Snyder from CNX Gas
We would also like to thank the Westmoreland County Community Foundation for their recent grant of $2,500.00 which will also pay for materials needed to complete the walking trail.
Salem Township Gets Grant of 200,000 for Seanor Farm Park.
The Salem Township Supervisors, The Salem Township Recreation Board and the Salem Township Recreation Park Initiative Committee are proud to announce the grant application submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has recently been approved for $200,000.00. The Township can move ahead to develop the first phase of Seanor Farm Park. The first segment will include an all purpose field for recreation, a maintenance storage unit, and drainage at the location, roadways and parking. This first phase will establish the initial infrastructure required to set the stage for future projects at the park. Work on the project should get underway shortly.
Many individuals, corporations, the Seanor family and local organizations have generously contributed their time and money to support the idea of developing a local park over the past 10 years. After years of fundraising the Township made a final payment of $39,268.88 to purchase the park site in June of 2003. With this purchase the township obtained the natural gas rights with the stipulation that all gas royalties be used to develop and maintain the park. To date six gas wells in the park are contributing to the parks success. A master site plan was developed with input from the community which also was approved by DCNR. The site plan contains three segments with ball fields, athletic courts, an amphitheater, pavilions, picnic and camping areas, restrooms and a recreation facility with an outdoor pool. As we start the first phase we realize it will take a while to develop the 170 plus acre site and the fundraisers will continue. We want to thank those individuals and organizations that have made the park project a success by supporting our fundraisers. The money raised to date is being matched by the $200,000.00 grant. We are pleased to partner with DCNR to accomplish development of the park which will be an asset to our community.
